Set the remit before you choose the region

A role based in London may serve assets across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, or sit inside a wider European platform. State the locations, investment decisions and delivery responsibilities it will cover, then set the reporting line, working pattern and authority needed to achieve the outcome.

EU27 reference / 20256.0%

Source, scope & methodology
Unemployment rate (aged 16 and over, seasonally adjusted): % (series MGSX)

Office for National Statistics · Series released 15 September 2026 · Accessed 2 October 2026

Annual 2025 unemployment rate for people aged 16 and over, both sexes, seasonally adjusted, from the ONS Labour Force Survey series. Eurostat holds no 2025 observation for the United Kingdom.

National figure. The ONS series uses ages 16 and over, so it is not directly comparable with the 15–74 measure used for EU markets and the EU27 reference.

The unemployment rate is unemployed people as a percentage of the labour force (employed plus unemployed). Annual observations should not be labelled as monthly or seasonally adjusted monthly readings.

EU27 reference: Eurostat, EU unemployment in 2025 · Published 10 June 2026. This figure covers ages 16 and over, so it is not directly comparable with the EU27 reference (ages 15–74).

National unemployment does not measure the availability of property leaders. Use these figures as broad labour-market context, not as evidence of sector-specific candidate supply, senior talent shortages or ease of hiring.

The hiring lens / United Kingdom

Set the remit before you choose the region

These questions help define the appointment. The answers depend on your assets, operating model and reporting structure.

01

Map the operating footprint

Is the role anchored in London, attached to one scheme or responsible for assets across several regions? Specify site attendance and travel before deciding where candidates can be based.

02

Plan for movement across borders

Will the appointment draw on candidates moving between the UK and continental Europe? Confirm location, relocation and right-to-work expectations early, so they shape the shortlist rather than delay an offer.

03

Separate UK delivery from European oversight

Does the role own UK budgets and teams, or coordinate a wider European platform? Make decision rights, escalation routes and shared responsibilities explicit.

Location & working languages

Plan around the work.
Then choose the base.

A reporting address, a project location and the best place to find relevant experience may be different.

Make the language requirement specific.

Which activities are carried out in English, and is any other language demonstrably needed for European assets, investors or occupiers?

Assess communication through the tasks the person must perform, rather than nationality or an assumed language standard.
